The shovel and Te Whakarewarewatangaoterteopetauaawahiao

Well, well in addition to the winding road conditions I should add spectacular one line bridges on every road ! Anyway NZ is very different from Aussie - people : not as open and friendly as Ozzies, Maoris are visible before dusk , climate: a little bit chili, but fine for us, flora: very rich and landscapes … you may observe: sea, mountains, volcanoes, hot springs, snow, rivers with spectacular falls, etc. at the same time.
The shovel is the most important tool here, can you imagine dozens of people digging their own holes for the hot spa on the beach? I also couldn’t , but it’s how it is here, we are at one big active volcanic ground so 10cm under the ground you may find hot ( ‘fucking’ hot ) springs what you may use to warm up yourself ( I guess it has some superb minerals keeping you young forever ), home, swimming pool, etc. A lot of fun and smell of sulphur everywhere !
We spent 2 days at Te Whakarewarewatangaoterteopetauaawahiao ( real name of the Maori village close to Rotorua ) digging own holes or going to the Hell’s Gate spa for mud bath, visited Wai O Tapi - the most colorful volcanic park we have ever seen with the lady Knox geyser shooting water up to 20 meters at .. 10.15 ( smart marketing trick !) and arrived to the Tongariro National Park. Tongarino, established in 1887, was the first NZ’s national park. It was given by local chief of the Ngati Tuwharetoa people who realized that it was the only way to preserve an area …. With its collection of of three active volcanic picks ( 2000-2700m ), lakes, snow is one of the most interesting places on the North island. Let’s see tomorrow.
