12 Apostles
So it’s time for the greatest thing in Victoria – The Great Ocean Road. It’s around 300km drive close to the coast from Peterborough to Torquay. It took us couple of hours to drive first 70km as we had to move along with 5000 cyclists ! As you know we don’t watch TV, read newspapers , etc, so we didn’t know that ‘Victoria on Bike’ is at the same time as we planned our visit to the GOR. Anyway with police assist somehow we arrived to our camping . The most interesting and spectacular part of the GOR is an amazing collection of natural rock sculptures including 12 Apostles, London Bridge ( collapsed in 1990 ) and Loch Ard Gorge. Twelve Apostles – hmmm nobody knows why 12 as all sources we found says that it was only 8 sculptures in the sea. In fact we could see only 7 as the limestone/sand construction is not very resistant to the sea and wind erosion so one collapsed in July 2005 … don’t lose your time and visit Victoria ASAP as only 7 remained ! The rest of the GOR is just a nice road close to the sea, I think that eg Split-Dubrovnik road is more spectacular. We stopped in a small city called Lorne and ….could see wild Koalas during our bush walk first time in Aussie ! I am not sure who was more surprised anyway we saw them ( two ) walking, climbing and making the sound like a big bear ( they have 60-70cm and Koala is not a bear at all ). It’s time for mountains so we are moving to the local Alps now.
so - how does it feel to be really relaxed and in no hurry! those cyclists are crazy! should they not be drinking a cold can of fosters somewhere, eating barbeque on the beach!
OdpowiedzUsuńYour hairs getting long Pawel - I hope it gets down to your waist before you get it chopped! no need to put on a business suit, so let it grow wild and free!!!
UK weather update - foggy this morning, followed by dark outside by 3.30pm and rather cold!
Office = tropical. Goes from one extreme to the other - either bitterly cold or like a sauna! Russia is going crazy busy at the moment and everyone is wanting quotations for equipment for before year end - which is insane as we have the usual - manufacturing issues around components etc etc. All fun and games!
6 kilos = 1 week of mcdonalds breakfast everyday.... it doesn't take long to put it back on again if you try hard enough :) and the pic of the two of you eating that big plate of 'yellow' stuff may help!!!
