Nice people live here, the good advice is to do everything contrary to their advice, it’s as simple as turn left when they say – you have to turn right. The licensed taxi driver wanted 700 bats, than 500 bats, I said: please turn on your meter ... we paid 450 bats. The next one we met advised the boat trip to see Bangkok by river, he even organized tuk-tuk ( kind of the rickshaw with small engine ) for us, only 1800 bats … we took a public ferry and paid 26 bats. Local guide me met close to the temple said that the temple is closed up to 2pm due the ceremony and we should go and see The Lucky Buddha first ( of course he offered tuk-tuk ), we did what we planned without any problems, but generally they are very friendly. For us Bangkok is a kingdom of the food, we ( especially Ewa ) try to test everything we can find on the streets, so she eats 4-6 different small dishes including tasty bugs a day. Today we spent all day visiting King’s Palace and walking at the Chinese district. The main street is like a huge bazaar, you can buy whatever you want , from diamonds to bugs. It’s so crowded that it’s difficult to walk, but surprisingly the small ‘fast food’ rickshaws could find room between millions of walking people. We could recognize maybe 20% of the food they are offering, but we had a lot of fun testing what was possible and eatable to us. We also saw the world’s largest golden Buddha – something like 3m tall around 5 tones and … 10 million$.
I was very brave and decided to visit barber yesterday. He didn’t speak English so I had a small problem to explain what I want to achieve, but it was cool as long as I recognized the rusty razor in his hands. I said something about the urgent appointment and run away as fast as I could. The good thing ( maybe not for everybody ) is that I am still alive !
