Flores – means flowers

The good thing is that they have the power generators:) The agreed car ( local made Mitsubishi - KUDA ) arrived on time so we are on our way from Labuanbajo to Maumere . It’s around 700km, but the way is a little bit like in the NZ. The main difference is that in the NZ they had two way road and one line bridges, here they have one line road and two way bridges , a lot of fun, but we have an excellent driver so don’t worry. Flores –it means flowers in Portuguese, it’s true the whole island so green that grass is growing even on the main road and we can see number of unknown flowers everywhere. It's a very poor island what is visible everywhere, but people seems to be happy and helpful as much as they can. It was a busy day today, morning walk to the volcano (volcanic valley in fact ) which erupted in 2000 with the local village guide – we had been ‘Gore-Tex’ and ‘Vibram’ dressed, he didn’t have even shoes, than the prehistoric village missed somewhere in the forest and the hot springs in the afternoon. We liked much the last part of the day as we don’t have hot water in the hotel so …:) . Below our polish post you may see our take-a-way lunch which is still on the tree, it was yummy !

Mixture of old and new photos, Flores

  1. Hello
Pawel - you look very brown and a bit too relaxed :)
The bottled water in your photos - a couple of them looked a bit yellow - was it apple juice?
Snow has melted here now thank goodness - back to work as usual...
looks like there's plenty of bananas in flores
