We are in Angkor, the old capital city of the Khmer Empire that existed between 9th and 12th centuries. They think that all tourists have unlimited budget and will be the main and probably the only one country budget contributors. It’s probably why they have so many Lexuses here. The entrance fee is 20$ per day/person, but you have stay here at least 2-6 days and today we have been asked to pay 40$ to enter the small fishing village, we refused…. anyway we spent two excellent days on tuk-tuk drive between small and big temples , old palaces, pagodas looking at all what remained from the prosperity days. As you may see there are mainly ruins , surrounded and in some cases ‘eaten’ by tries, but still you can imagine enormity of the buildings. In addition almost everything what remained is covered by beautiful carvings . Unfortunately it’s not maintained or restored almost at all ( they only support collapsing parts of the walls etc. ) so we are not sure how many years it will be available for visitors.. what’s a shame.
